2025-2026 Monthly Meetings
Monthly (Member) Meetings are scheduled on the 3rd Thursday of the month from October thru April:
Time: 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM
(with exception of March 19 time change to 3:30pm-4:30pm for Annual Meeting/Election of Officers) this will allow SCAL members to dash to Captiva to attend the Opening Reception of our Reflections exhibit at the Captiva Civic Center 5:00pm-7:00pm.
Monthly (Board of Directors) Meetings are

Welcome to the Sanibel Captiva Art League 2025-2026 Season of plein air painting. All outdoor painting is naturally subject to weather conditions. A brief friendly critique follows the morning session.

This exhibit is open to all members of the Sanibel-Captiva Art League (SCAL) and the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF). The exhibit will feature plein air paintings that align with SCCF’s mission to protect and care for Southwest Florida’s coastal ecosystems and celebrate the Bailey Homestead Preserve.
There is no entry fee for this exhibit.
Each artist may provide up to (3) entries if space allows.

Plein Air Painting Event
The opening day of the exhibition will feature a Plein Air Painting Event in celebration of the dedicated community of plein air artists and their ongoing work on and around Sanibel. All participating artists are invited to gather on the morning of the opening, Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 9:00 AM, to create one or more plein air works on site. These artworks—whether wet, unfinished, or complete—will be brought into the house (front room) at the start of the show’s opening at 1:30 PM. Artists may display their pieces on personal easels or shelving provided in the adjoining room of the front room space. (See prospectus for full details).

This exhibit flows from the personal (Faces) to the collective (Places) to the philosophical (Spaces). The tone is thoughtful, immersive, and slightly atmospheric - encouraging quiet reflection while celebrating visual diversity in style and medium.
